The Louisville Catholic Sports Network is pleased to announce that we’re partnering with The Kentucky Players Academy and will have a Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer Player of the Week during the regular season and postseason.

LCSN Managing Editor Conor Revell will select the players based on their performances the prior week. A girls’ player will be named Tuesday and a boys’ player will be named Wednesday starting Aug. 21st.

The Kentucky Players Academy ( KPAsoccer.org) is a supplemental soccer training organization that is not club affiliate, but provides winter training, summer training and college recruitment opportunities for aspiring soccer players, boy or girls, from the grades 7th thru 12th grade.

Under the direction of Matthew Wilkerson and Chris Tinius, the players meet separately on Mondays and Wednesdays either at Assumption Sports Green (KPA Girls) or St. Xavier High School (KPA Boys).

The KPA provides a competitive and positive environment so players can get better. Last year KPA boys side had 120+ boys sign up for winter training, 125+ sign up for the annual Summer ID Camp (which was attended by 15+ area college coaches) vice versa the KPA Girls side has 70+ girls for the Winter Training and 38+ for the Summer ID Camp.

Why KPA?

  • Player Development- playing throughout the winter in a competitive and free environment has helped players improve and led to success at the individual, club and high School levels.
  • KPA is providing good role modeling, and messaging by surrounding the players with coaches that are good role models and have great soccer experiences.
  • KPA exposes players to college coaches of all levels- Division 1,2,3 and NAIA- many players have earned scholarships and roster spots because of KPA.
  • KPA has helped educate players and parents on the college recruitment process. Helped players develop a network and support system of local coaches that are committed to helping the players achieve their goals.
  • The KPA offers a “Drama Free” environment allowing players to focus on playing.  We have developed a culture of players that love and respect the game.
  • Most of our soccer players have extremely busy soccer schedules and play all 12 months- so having the opportunity to get out and just play is important for them mentally and is a nice break from their normal training routine.
  • We have developed something that is very special and is having an extremely positive impact on young people. The biggest strength of the KPA is our Staff, comprised of great leaders of young people.
  • Our staff on both sides of the Boys and Girls consist of several Varsity High School Coaches. Coaches are represented from University of Louisville, Bellarmine University, Hanover College as well as several players from our Professional Club Louisville City.

Testimonials

  • “We consider the KPA as nothing more than a supplement to the athletes commitment to their club curriculum adding value beyond winning games. It is truly the only “Player First Organization.” - Ted Nichols, KPA Founder
  • “The KPA is a great environment for student athletes that truly want to be better.  It creates unique experiences and challenges for the players that benefit their future on and off the field. I wish I had an oppurtunity like KPA when I was a young soccer player.” - George Davis IV, Louisville City Captain
