Neither Trinity nor St. Xavier played in the Louisville area on Friday night, but both football teams took care of business on the road to remain undefeated. Trinity used a fourth quarter surge to defeat Warren Central 17-14 in Indianapolis. Meanwhile, the Tigers downed Henry Clay 48-7 in the Bluegrass Bowl held at Lexington Catholic.

For the second straight week, Trinity has taken down a quality team from Indiana. Nathan McElroy opened up the scoring with a 42 yard catch-and-run touchdown pass to Wynton Johnson, but the Rocks still trailed by seven entering the final quarter. Armon Tucker punched in a two yard touchdown to bring the score even at 14, and continued to make big plays down the stretch. Sebastian Mata’s 39 yard field goal with 3:24 remaining would put Trinity ahead, and they would not look back. Trinity (2-0) will return home for a big matchup next Friday with Archbishop Moeller (OH) at 7:30 pm.

St. X jumped out to a commanding lead quickly; senior running back Logan Davis found the endzone three separate times in the first half with over 100 yards rushing, while sophomore Justin Walsh had two of his own scores. The Tigers held a 41-7 halftime lead and activated the running clock before the end of the third quarter. Like Trinity, St. X (2-0) will have a prime matchup at home, hosting rival Male at 7:30 pm.
