Sacred Heart has a long history of winning the Louisville Invitational Tournament with nine championships. This season is no different. The Valkyries are the No. 1 seed while the other four Catholic schools are in the field.


The LIT committee decided not to reseed the event that begins March 1 at the home of the higher seeded teams. The winners advance and play on the higher teams court Wednesday in the quarterfinals. The semifinals will be at Valley Saturday, March 6 at noon and 2:30 p.m. The championship is Sunday, March 7 at 2 p.m.


SHA (15-4) begins play Tuesday against the winner of No. 17 Kentucky Country Day-Fern Creek. All games Monday and Tuesday begin at 5:30 p.m.


The No. 2 seed is defending Sixth Region champion Bullitt East (12-2). The Lady Chargers own a 66-63 win at Sacred Heart, February 3.


Assumption (7-7) is the No. 4 seed host No. 13 Iroquois, Tuesday. No. 12 Holy Cross (4-3) plays at No. 5 Butler.

The first round also feature no. 11 Presentation (5-8) at No. 6 Mercy (8-9) Tuesday.


The field is reduced from 24 to 18 teams. Manual, one of the favorites in the Seventh Region was forced to withdraw because of Coronavirus as was Male. Seneca and Jeffersontown chose not to participate while Waggener does not have a team.


Butler, Bullitt East, Christian Academy and Sacred Heart are the favorites.
