Rankings: Don Bosco, Trinity Remain 1-2
Cincy St. Xavier returns to top 10; little change at the top.
1. Don Bosco Prep – Ramsey, NJ (5-0): Idle. Next game: Oct. 21 v. Passaic County Tech.
2. Trinity – Louisville, KY (8-0): Trinity shut out Male high school 49-0 in a rematch of last year's KY state championship game (also won by Trinity 38-0). With a weekend off to prepare for their final regular season game v. Archbishop Moeller, the Shamrocks will be seeking their first undefeated season since 2002, when the Brian Brohm-led Shamrocks defeated Michael Bush's Male Bulldogs 59-56 in the state championship game.
3. Our Lady of Good Counsel – Olney, MD (7-0): The Falcons cruised past Bishop McNamara 35-0 taking them to 7-0 on the season.
4. St. Thomas Aquinas – Ft. Lauderdale, FL (5-1): While their loss to nationally ranked Miramar may have put one blemish on their season, the Raiders are still one of the best teams in the country. They handily defeated South Broward 44-7 this past weekend.
5. Bishop Gorman – Las Vegas, NV (8-1): The Gaels won their seventh game in a row in convincing fashion, 55-0 over Spring Valley.
6. Central Catholic – Pittsburgh, PA (7-0): The Vikings made two first quarter scores hold up from Toledo-bound running Damion Jones-Moore, the first a 77 yard streak on the second play of the game, to defeat Gateway 13-7 and improve to 7-0.
7. De La Salle – Concord, CA (5-1): Since their loss at St. Thomas Aquinas, the Trojans have outscored their opponents by a combined 143-10. Adding to that count was their 42-7 win over Amador Valley.
8. Servite – Anaheim, CA (5-1): Servite quarterback Cody Pitman completed 15 of 21 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns leading the Friars to a 21-8 win over Orange Lutheran high school.
9. Archbishop Moeller – Cincinnati, OH (7-1): Moeller was defeated when Indianapolis Cathedral's backup kicker, Drake Meyers booted the winning kick from 40 yards with no time remaining to secure a 26-24 win. Moeller's loss prevented them from a legitimate shot at a run for the top spot in the rankings with contests looming against top 10 team St. Edward and No. 2 ranked Trinity in the coming weeks.
10. St. Xavier - Cincinnati, OH (6-2): This Cincinnati team returns to the top 10 by beating former top 10 St. Edward (OH) 17-10 on the strength of running back Conor Hundley's 160 yard, 2 touchdown performance.
