Trio Of Cal Teams Vie For CIF Title

De La Salle, Bellarmine and Santa Margarita in mix for CIF title

A trio of outstanding California high school teams are in the hunt for the CIF state bowl game titles this week. There are five divisions of play.

In the open division De La Salle (12-1, ranked No. 19 by MaxPreps) will meet Westlake (14-0, ranked No. 6 by MaxPreps) for the bragging rights of best team in the state. The Spartans wll have a tough task as they face an undefeated Westlake squad filled with speed, power and playmakers. The game will be played Saturday evening at 8pm.

Bellarmine (12-1) and Santa Margarita (12-2) will face each other in a California clash of north v. south Catholic powers Friday evening at 8pm. The Bells only loss came in their first game of the season at De La Salle. Bellarmine lost that game 26-23 in overtime and have rung-up 12 straight wins. The Eagles' two losses came at Mater Dei (21-14) and a tough 43-42 overtime loss to Servite.
