Former St. Xavier rugby player Wes Parker will have another shot at representing the United States on a global level.

Last year Parker was named to the High School All-American rugby squad and played against 240 teams from around the world in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Parker, along with 48 teammates, plays for the USA Rugby AIG Men’s Junior All-American team, which will try to earn a spot in next year’s Junior World Rugby Trophy Tournament.

The team will have to beat Canada in a home-and-home series in early 2015 to qualify for the world tournament.

The St. X alum is a freshman at Lindenwood University in St. Louis and already participated in one training session during Thanksgiving week.

Parker will participate in another from Dec. 26-30. If the U.S. qualifies, the tournament is in Portugal and will be held from May 7-24 in 2015.
