In the All-Catholic Tournament in Lexington, the baseball Rocks lost to St. Xavier 5-4 in the first round. Trinity rebounded to defeat Lexington Catholic 4-3 and Bethlehem 15-4.


The tennis Rocks defeated Christian Academy 5-0 on Mar.  20.


Trinity freshman Pat Letterle has had a stellar archery season. He was a regional champion in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association regional tournament, advancing to the state tournament, held Mar. 17 at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

Letterle shot a 281, which placed him 86th out of 800 boys, 20th out of 273 freshman boys and 124th out of 2,350 boys overall. The state champion, an archer from Graves County shot a 298; a perfect score is 300.

Letterle is waiting to find out if he will advance to the national tournament to be held at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in May.

Additionally, the combined team of Trinity High School and Mercy Academy won a tournament hosted by St. Gabriel Catholic Church at Fern Creek High School. Trinity/Mercy won the high school division. Trinity sophomore William Skinner was the Shamrocks’ top scorer. Letterle finished in third place.


The track Rocks travelled to Henderson County to compete in the Colonel Classic. The Rocks dominated the other 17 teams competing, taking the first-place trophy and outdistancing second-place Central by a score of 140-81.

Leading the charge were the Rock distance runners.  Evan Lang scored first-place finishes in the mile and two-mile. Senior Andrew Ireland set a new meet record in winning the 800 crown and anchored the winning 3,200 relay.

The sprinters scored points in droves. Senior Michael Cawood took second in the open 400. Additionally, Cawood ran strong legs in the winning 800 and 1,600 relay teams. Sophomore Santo Biddix scored in the triple jump and long jump, and freshman Caleb Costin pointed in the discus.


The Rocks defeated Wapahani High School 25-21, 25-23; Zionsville High School 25-12, 25-11; and Brownsburg High School 25-11, 25-13. The JV also went 2-0.


The Rocks competed in the Holy Cross Powersports Meet at Holy Cross High School. The varsity took home first place. Junior Garrett Morris had an outstanding meet by sweeping first in every discipline and setting a couple of records along the way. In the 165-pound division Garrett took first place in the power clean with a lift of 230 pounds. In the bench press he took first place and set a meet record with a lift of 265, and in the strict bar curl he also took first place and set a record with a lift of 145. Garrett also took home the award for the pound-for-pound strongest lifter in the competition.
